Begin with the essentials
A legitimate help flow should never ask you to expose a recovery phrase to an untrusted person or page.
Spot phishingSelf-custody means controlling your own credentials. Verify the actual product architecture and terms before assuming any custody model, and never share your recovery phrase.
Viewing on-chain data and broadcasting transactions typically need connectivity. Keeping your recovery information offline does not.
Write it down privately, check the word order and store it away from damage, theft or loss. Avoid screenshots, chat messages and cloud storage.
Private keys authorize signatures. A recovery phrase commonly restores a collection of related keys. Both must stay secret.
Check your offline backup first. Install from a verified source, recover on a trusted device, and verify access before wiping the old phone.
